Visitation Rules & Regulations
- Visitors must present a photo ID with date of birth, or two other documents verifying name, address and at least one showing date of birth. This ID must be presented to the Detention Officer when registering for the visit.
- Visitors shall not be permitted to take purses, recording devices or other items into the visitation areas.
- The use of tobacco products inside the building is prohibited.
- All visitors are required to pass through or by a metal detector prior to entering the visitation area.
- Visitors may be asked to submit to a "pat" search prior to entering the visitation area. You will not be permitted to visit if you refuse.
- Visitors may not wander through or loiter in the visitation hallway.
- Visitors are required to stay at their assigned booth during the visit. (Violations will result in termination of the visit and possibly future visits).
- Anyone caught passing or attempting to pass anything to an inmate shall be charged and prosecuted. SC CODE OF LAWS 24-7-155 Furnishing or possessing contraband in county or municipal prisons prohibited - Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a felony.
- Inmates are required to complete a visitation card listing the persons they wish to visit. Five names can be listed on the card, but only three can visit each time. Visitors will not be approved if their name is not listed on the card. Five visitors are permitted to visit at the Minimum Security Building. Children are included in the total number.
- Visitors under the age of seventeen must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
- Visitors will not be permitted in to visit if they are wearing clothing that are deemed inappropriate.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn.
- Additional guidelines may be imposed by the Director.
Visits may be scheduled at other times for immediate family members living out of town
(more than 150 miles from the center).
Visitors will need to contact the Director or Deputy
Director to obtain approval 48 hours prior to arrival.
Attorneys will have access to their clients at reasonable times. Restrictions will apply in case of lockdowns for head counts, mealtimes and other emergency situations. An inmate cannot be seen during those times.
